One of the most common conversations I have with agents, business owners, and even friends has nothing to do with strategy, skill, or opportunity. It has everything to do with money anxiety. Not just wanting more money, but constantly thinking about it. Feeling behind because of it. And here’s the hard truth I’ve learned over the years: worrying about money has never created more of it. In fact, it usually does the opposite.

Money does not respond well to desperation, fear, or fixation. Money follows intention, clarity, service, and value. When you understand that, and learn how to redirect your focus, everything changes. Let me explain.

Money Follows Intention:

If I were to ask you to borrow $1,000, what’s the very first question you would ask me? Not “When will you pay me back?” Not “Can I trust you?” The first question would almost certainly be: “What are you going to use it for?”

Why? Because you worked hard for that money. You sacrificed for it. You exchanged time, energy, and effort for it. You don’t want it wasted, and you definitely don’t want to hand it to someone who has no plan.

So imagine I said, “I’m going to Vegas this weekend, and I’m putting it all on black.” If you’re being honest, you’d probably say “NO!” At least you should. That money has no purpose beyond hope and luck. There’s no intention behind it. No structure. No return.

But now imagine I told you something different. Imagine I said, “I have the opportunity to attend a training event that will help me grow my skills, increase my knowledge, and elevate my career. I’m confident it will help me increase my sales by 30% this year. If you help me cover the cost, I’ll repay you—with interest.” That changes everything.

Suddenly, the money has direction. It has purpose. It has a plan. It has intention. And because of that, it becomes attractive. You’re no longer giving money, you’re investing it. You’re participating in growth. You’re supporting value creation. You’re saying, “I’m in.”

This is how money works in real life. Money follows intention. It wants to know where it’s going, what it’s doing, and why it matters. When you treat money like something to be feared, chased, or obsessed over, it pulls away. When you treat it like a tool for growth, service, and impact, it shows up.

Money is like Love:

Think about a relationship for a moment. When someone is desperate for love… When they need it, chase it, cling to it, or try to force it, it pushes people away. Neediness repels connection. But when someone focuses on becoming a better version of themselves, healthier, more confident, more grounded, they naturally attract people who are aligned with that energy.

Love is to be ensued, not pursued. Money works the same way. When you focus on how little you have, how behind you feel, or how unfair things seem, you signal scarcity. When you focus on who you need to become, what value you need to create, and how you can serve more people more effectively, you attract opportunity. Instead of obsessing over money, focus on becoming the kind of person money flows toward.

What you focus on expands

If you spend your mental energy focusing on not having enough money, your mind automatically starts searching for reasons why. You slip into victim thinking. You replay stories about the market, the economy, your competition, your background, your age, your looks, your experience. You convince yourself you’re not smart enough, not good enough, too young, or too old. That kind of thinking feels real… but it’s poison. It pulls your attention away from solutions and responsibility.

Solution thinking works differently. It asks better questions. Instead of “Why don’t I have money?” it asks, “What can I do today to improve my situation?” Instead of “I’m not good at this,” it asks, “What skill do I need to develop?” Instead of “This won’t work for me,” it asks, “Who is already doing this successfully, and what can I learn from them?”

Responsibility doesn’t mean blaming yourself. It means owning the truth that even if you don’t have the knowledge, skills, or confidence you want today, you have the ability to learn, improve, and adapt. You can sharpen your communication. You can update your marketing. You can improve your photography, your style, your systems, your follow-up. None of that requires anything other than your intention and attention.

How to Stop Worrying about it!

This is precisely why you shouldn’t spend a single minute of your day worrying about money. Worry does nothing productive. It doesn’t pay bills. It doesn’t create leads. It doesn’t attract clients. It only creates fear and fear repels real opportunity. Instead of worrying about money, redirect your focus to five questions that actually generate income:

Five Question to Shift Your Focus

  1. Who can I serve today that would be happy to work with me and happy to pay me?
  2. What are the biggest pain points they’re experiencing right now?
  3. Why are they suffering or stuck?
  4. What can I do to help them resolve those problems?
  5. What is the best way for me to communicate that solution to them?

When you focus on service, money becomes a byproduct… never the goal. Let me give you a real-world example.

I enjoy serving first-time home buyers. If I can help someone buy their first home, guide them through the process, and remove fear and confusion, they are more than happy to pay me. But to serve them effectively, I have to understand their pain points. Right now, their biggest struggle is affordability. High interest rates and high home prices have made it feel impossible to buy. In many cases, it’s actually cheaper to rent than to own, especially in Denver.

So why are they suffering? Because they don’t know what they don’t know. They assume traditional financing is their only option. They assume the numbers they see online are the final answer. But there are solutions. Solutions that aren’t commonly discussed. New-home builders often offer interest rate incentives. Sellers can pay for rate buy-downs. And there are still FHA and VA assumable mortgages from 2020–2022 with rates in the 2–3% range that can dramatically lower monthly payments.

Once I understand that, the next step is communication. Most first-time buyers are under 40. Many spend 3-4 hours a day on social media. So instead of worrying about money, I can record short videos explaining these strategies. I can tell stories. I can share real examples and testimonials. I can educate instead of chase. And by doing that, I naturally attract the people who need my help most.

That’s how money shows up! When value is clear. When you stop focusing on money and start focusing on service, skill, and solutions, your energy shifts. Your messaging improves. Your confidence grows. And opportunities begin to appear where you once saw obstacles.

Final Thought

If you’re feeling stuck financially, overwhelmed by money, or frustrated that your effort isn’t translating into income, the solution is not to worry more. The solution is clarity. Clarity around who you serve. Clarity around the problems you solve. Clarity around how you communicate value.
